Incoming Freshmen Sought for Scholarship Program Started by Black & Veatch Foundation

Five incoming freshmen to the Electronics Engineering Technology program at Pittsburg State University each will receive a $7,200 scholarship — $3,600 for fall, and $3,600 for spring — funded by the Black & Veatch Foundation. 

Mpix to Donate 7,000 Masks for PSU Students

Mpix, a division of Pittsburg-based Millers Professional Imaging, the largest professional lab organization in the U.S., will donate 7,000 custom-made masks to PSU for students. 

Turf Project Nears Completion

A project to replace the turf field at Carnie Smith Stadium will wrap up soon and the stadium will re-open to the public. The project is funded by Freeman Health System of Joplin, Missouri.
University Mourns Loss of Longtime Math Professor
Alumni, faculty, and administrators past and present are mourning the death of longtime math professor Forrest Coltharp, who passed away on July 24 in Frontenac, Kansas. He was 86.

Dreiling Back on Campus as New HR Director

Over the past 12 years, Lori Scott Dreiling came to campus often. As HR director at Modine Manufacturing, she hired more than 75 PSU graduatesAs an adjunct instructor in the Kelce College of Business, she shared her expertise. As a student, she earned her master’s of science in Human Resources Development. And, as a parent, she toured the campus with her daughter.
MIAA To Delay the Start of All Sports Practices, Competitions
The MIAA and its member institutions announced a plan to delay the start of all intercollegiate athletic practices until the week of August 31, with the start of competition delayed until the week of September 28. The CEO Council will continue to monitor this plan and adjust it as necessary to protect the health and safety of its athletes.
