University Gears up for Spring Commencement

PSU’s spring graduates began celebrating their Spring Commencement on April 30th. The ceremonies are very similar in style to Fall Commencement, which was well-received by participants. 

Outstanding Senior Erin Kruse: "I've flourished here."

An hour after recording her Commencement address to fellow graduating seniors, Erin Kruse was offered a job that wraps up and ties with a bow everything she learned at PSU and will allow her to make a difference like she’s dreamed. 

Outstanding Senior Christopher Wernimont: "Pitt State has transformed me."

Inspired by a high school wood shop teacher, Christopher Wernimont chose PSU for his education and wound up making a tangible impact while here, starting a program that to date has benefited 450 area children. 

Media Production Students Win Statewide Awards

Last fall seems like a long time ago, but PSU students Caleb Wuthnow and Kat Bailey have a clear memory of what they felt when it was announced the Gorillas would play a football game. 

Brett Thompson Again Claims National Athlete of the Week Honors

For the second time in as many weeks, PSU senior javelin thrower Brett Thompson was named the NCAA D-II National Athlete of the Week for Men's Outdoor Track & Field by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

University Renews Focus on Sustainability

To coincide with Earth Day, President Steve Scott announced a renewed focus and new membership to what previously was known as the University Sustainability Committee.

Scientists at PSU Convert Soybean BioMass into Batteries

Scientists at the Kansas Polymer Research Center have invented a new kind of battery that is more eco-friendly. While that’s good news, equally good news is they invented it by transforming a product that is plentiful in the heartland: soy.
