Gorilla Advantage Expands to Include 31 States

PSU gained approval to significantly expand the Gorilla Advantage program, which enables non-Kansas undergraduate students to pay the equivalent of in-state tuition. This bold new plan targets undergraduate students in 31 states. 

Jewett Announces Retirement from Coaching, Staff Promotions Announced

Coach Russ Jewett announced his retirement from coaching. His list of accomplishments for the Track & Field Team, as well as Cross Country goes on and on. Associate Head Coach Kyle Rutledge will now assume the role as Head Coach.

Pair of Gorillas Inducted into MIAA Hall of Fame

All-American Pittsburg State University student-athlete alumnae – cross country/track & field star Venessa Lee and volleyball standout Dina (Wathan) Blevins – were inducted into the MIAA Hall of Fame.

Concert Planned to Honor Noted Local Composer

A concert honoring the late Barbara York, an internationally renowned composer and musician who lived in Pittsburg and worked at PSU, will be held July 10th at 7:00 pm in the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts. 

Tuition to Remain Flat for 2021-2022

PSU continues to hold the line on undergraduate tuition, with no tuition increase for the coming academic year. There was no tuition increase in 2019 either, and just a modest increase ($83 per semester) in 2020.  

Athletics Announces 2021 Hall of Fame Class

PSU is pleased to announce its 2021 induction class into the Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame. The group will be formally inducted into the elite Hall of Fame membership.

Brett Thompson and Josh Hudiburg Qualified for U.S. Olympic Trials

The men competed in the javelin throw at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon, on June 21st. Hudiburg placed 21st overall. Thompson placed 9th overall advancing him to the finals. In the finals, Thompson finished 12th. The top three advanced to the U.S. Olympics. Finals  |  Thompson Interview

22nd Annual PSU Construction Alumni Pittsburg Golf Classic

The annual golf tournament will be held on Tuesday, August 10th at Crestwood Country Club in Pittsburg. Net proceeds fund scholarships and provide monetary support for the School of Construction.
